Chelsea Green Publishing is the leading publisher of books about the politics and practice of sustainable living, with books, DVDs and audio in categories ranging from organic farming and gardening, permaculture, health and wellness, simple living, food, sustainable business and economics, green building or travel among others.

This employee-owned company is committed to sustainability by printing their books and catalogs on chlorine-free recycled paper, using soy-based inks, whenever possible, and working with printers based in North America (and almost exclusively within the United States) keeping their carbon footprint and reliance on fossil fuels to a minimum. It is also a member of the Green Press Initiative, a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing the use of recycled paper in the book industry.

Breastfeeding Inc is the world’s breastfeeding resource from Canada. They aim to empower parents with the most up-to-date breastfeeding information.

ECO lunchbox is a company that makes 100% stainless steel, completely plastic-free lunch boxes and other accessories

They offer a wide variety of products from kid’s trays, camping trays, barbecue kits, sandwich boxes, 3-in-1 bentos, snack containers, yoghurt cups, tumblers to utensils and bamboo straws.

They are U.S. recognised EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) green power partner. They are also 300% green hosting powered by wind power. This means they purchase wind energy credits three times over the energy they consume from the grid. What this means for you and me is that our website’s carbon footprint is negative. I think this is possibly tax-deductible.

It is estimated that by 2020 the web hosting industry will exceed the airline industry in pollution if we don’t change it.

Promoting green companies

My aim with this page is to promote green companies that are interested in doing things differently, that are concerned not only with the bottom line profit, but also people and the planet.

As consumers we are supporting companies that do not support us, that do not have our best interests at heart, with products that are not good for us or the planet. Often, we are totally unaware that these products are actually harmful for us and the environment.

There is another way

As consumers we have an enormous power to drive change not only in the world but in our own lives.

When we support companies that have products that are good for us, that treat their employees well, that are contributing to drive change by supporting environmental or community organisations, that are aware of their impact on the planet and in people’s lives, at all levels of their organisation from production to consumption.
